By registering or participating in any ASALI event, you agree to the terms below. Please read them carefully before submitting an entry.
These terms are subject to finalisation before the first event opens.
Event-specific eligibility, fees, prize details and payment terms will be confirmed and published before registration opens for each event. Do not make any payment until official fees and a verified, secure checkout are published by ASALI.
01 · Eligibility & Acceptance of Terms
By registering or participating in any ASALI event, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. The same seven competition categories apply across participating countries. Event-specific eligibility conditions will be confirmed before registration opens.
02 · Minors & Guardian Consent
A parent or legal guardian must register on behalf of any participant under the age of majority in their jurisdiction and provide a valid passport or government-issued ID. The secure verification method is still being finalised. Do not email identity documents or submit them via this preview site.
03 · Authenticity & Provenance
Be clear about your entry’s cultural context, community, local names and the source of your knowledge. Include supporting evidence and custodian information where appropriate. Do not present another person’s work or knowledge as your own.
04 · Independent Judging & Decision Finality
Assigned juries evaluate entries using event- and category-specific criteria. Heritage significance, execution, cultural context, presentation and appropriate innovation may be considered. Follower counts and social popularity are not core judging criteria. Judging is conducted independently; judging processes and outcome criteria will be published with each event.
05 · Qualification, Progression & Disqualification
Registration does not automatically guarantee qualification, a finalist place or an award. Entries that contain fraudulent information or do not meet the published standards of the event may not progress. Screening, review and stage progression determine final status.
06 · Intellectual Property, Documentation & Media Rights
You retain ownership of your entry and any heritage knowledge it contains. Heritage documentation rights and any commercial rights remain with the originating community or creator. Participation alone does not transfer ownership of your intellectual property to ASALI. Details of how entries may be used for archival or educational purposes will be confirmed before registration opens.
07 · Fees, Payments & Refunds
Event fees, payment instructions and prize details have not yet been confirmed. Flutterwave and Paystack verification is in progress. Do not make any payment until official fees and a verified, secure checkout are published by ASALI. Refund and cancellation terms will be set out in the confirmed event conditions.
